Service & Repair

Broken arm, stripped gears, a motor that won't spin? Our techs repair hobby-grade electric RC cars, trucks, boats and airplanes at our Davie and Doral stores.

What we work on

  • Hobby-grade electric RC only: brushed and brushless systems, ESCs, motors, servos, radios, drivetrains, suspension and chassis.

What we don't work on

  • Gas, nitro or any other fuel-powered models
  • Toy-grade RC
  • Power Wheels and other ride-on vehicles
  • Helicopters and drones

How it works

  1. Drop it off. All service is drop-off only. Bring your RC to either store during business hours, with its battery, transmitter and any parts that came off.
  2. Diagnosis and estimate. We'll diagnose it and contact you with an estimate of parts and labor. We don't start work until you approve the estimate.
  3. Parts. If the repair needs parts, they must be paid for before we install them on your vehicle.
  4. Repair and pickup. We'll contact you when it's ready to pick up at the store.

Timing depends on how busy the bench is and on parts availability.

Cost

  • Diagnosis: $25 — credited toward the labor if you approve the repair with us
  • Labor: $50 per hour
  • Parts: charged separately and paid before installation

Testing

We bench-test our repairs. We don't run cars on the street, water-test boats or flight-test airplanes.

Airplanes that have been flown carry no warranty from Goat Hobbies; any warranty is handled directly with the manufacturer.

Pickup and storage

  • You have 30 days to pick up your vehicle after we notify you that the repair is finished.
  • After 30 days, a storage fee of $1 per day applies.
  • 90 days after we notify you that the repair is finished, unclaimed items are considered abandoned. Goat Hobbies takes possession of the item and may dispose of it at its discretion, and the owner gives up any right to claims or compensation for it.

Before you run it

Always test every function and the radio range of your vehicle before operating it.

LiPo battery safety

  • Always charge LiPo batteries inside a LiPo-safe bag or container, on a non-flammable surface, and never leave them charging unattended.
  • Use a LiPo-compatible charger set to the correct cell count. Never charge a battery that is puffed, damaged or still hot from use.
  • Store them in a fireproof container, at storage charge (about 3.8V per cell), away from heat, direct sun and moisture. Never leave them in a hot car.
